Some things are worth keeping.

A table that learns the shape of your family. A box for the letters you cannot throw away. We make simple pieces from Arkansas hardwoods, with joints you can trust and finishes you can touch.

Made here. For your home.

Stillwater table in white oak

It starts with the tree.

Three woods.
Three different lives.

Same careful construction. A different grain, color and character. Pick the one that feels like home.

White oak is hard and quietly golden. Its open grain warms toward honey with age.

Make it your table

From board to table.

Ten weeks of work. Forty years of dinners. Most tables leave our shop in 8–12 weeks; here is what happens along the way.

Rough boards selected for a table1 / 5
Weeks 1–2

Choose the boards

We match grain and color, then let the boards settle.

Weeks 3–4

Mill & glue up

Straight edges, careful glue lines, and a full day in clamps.

Weeks 5–6

Flatten & join

We flatten the top and fit the base with mortise and tenon joints.

Weeks 7–9

Finish & cure

Hand-rubbed oil, then time to harden. There is no rushing this part.

Week 10

Bring it home

We arrange delivery and leave you with a simple care guide.

Sam & June, at the bench

Two people.
One good way to make it.

I started Hollow Oak in 2010 with a borrowed planer and a bench my grandfather built. June joined me three years ago. We still choose every board and finish every edge ourselves.
