An amber candle on a stone porch ledge at dusk

Scent stories · October 2026

The porch after the rain.

Wet limestone has a smell all its own. Cool, almost mineral. When I made Cedar Porch, that was the part I wanted to keep: not just the cedar boards, but the air around them.

Juniper gives it a bright opening. Sage makes room for the wood. A little amber softens the edges. Light it when the house finally goes quiet.

Small rituals

An hour for yourself.

Set the candle on a dry, heat-safe ledge. Put the phone away. Let the day be done.

Seasonal notes

When the persimmons turn.

The first cold night softens the fruit. Our autumn pour keeps that honeyed warmth, with oat milk and a little vanilla.
