One bench.
A good day’s work.
There’s no production line upstairs. Just a hide, a knife, and a piece worth getting right.

I started with a belt.
In 2012 I needed a belt that wouldn’t peel apart. I cut one from a full hide, worked the edges smooth, and wore it every day. A friend asked for one. Then another.
Today I work above a hardware store in Batesville. I still cut every piece myself. The leather comes from American tanneries; the good grain stays visible. No plastic coatings, no bonded scraps.
Two needles, one seam.
A saddle stitch carries two threads through each hole. If one wears through, the whole row doesn’t unravel.

I prick the holes, pass a needle from each side, and snug the threads by hand. Then I sand, wax and burnish the edges. It takes longer. That’s fine.
If a stitch gives,
send it home.
